Hello, my name is Allen Burt and this is my personal blog and a publishing/discussion platform for topics including:

Entrepreneurship, Adventure Travel, and Social Enterprise.

- Bio -
I am an entrepreneur and consultant with an unhealthy addition for adventure travel.

Currently, I’m working with a small team to build a new IP consulting practice for the firm Stout Risius Ross, through business development initiatives and managing client engagements.

In 2008, I co-founded the not-for-profit corporation, SocioEconomic Ventures, Inc. (SEV Inc.). Through SEV Inc., I successfully launched the fund raising campaign, LibraryForLaos.org, to strengthen literacy in the country of Laos and succeeded in funding reading programs and book purchases for 6 rural village schools benefiting between 500-600 impoverished students.

I’ve done my fair share of globe trotting including over 30 countries and extensive travel throughout Europe, Central America, South America, Northern Africa, and East Asia. I’ve ridden a motorcycle across Cambodia, illegally trekked along the Tibetan plateau behind Chinese blockades, served up pints in a London pub, and delivered children’s books to rural villages in Laos.

I’ve been published in the areas of social entrepreneurship and independent travel on the Matador Network – the web’s largest independent travel publication.
